Stocks in technology companies and reimbursements totaling $17,077.17 are among the financial interests detailed in the 5th Court of Appeals justices’ financial disclosure forms for the past year.
Texas is one of 24 states where such judicial financial data is not published online, so The Texas Lawbook filed an open records request for the forms.
The justices are required to submit financial disclosure forms each year — if they don’t, they may face disciplinary action. The purpose of the forms is, in part, to ensure that the justices recuse themselves from cases in which they have a financial conflict of interest.
The Lawbook’s examination of the 202 pages detailing the finances of the court’s 13 sitting justices did not reveal any unaddressed conflicts. Here is what the disclosures revealed.
