(June 1) – Neal Rackleff, a partner in Locke Lord’s Austin office, has been nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as assistant secretary of housing and urban development, community planning and development, the firm recently announced.
Rackleff, who is a member of Locke Lord’s affordable housing and community development section, will begin his post working under HUD Secretary Ben Carson upon approval by the U.S. Senate.
“I am honored to accept the nomination from President Trump and to be given a platform to serve the American people and their communities,” Rackleff said in a statement.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to oversee programs that will help revitalize neighborhoods across the country and provide more affordable housing for low-income families.”
From 2012 to 2016, Rackleff served as the director of the housing and community development department for the City of Houston, where he oversaw the city’s community development projects, strategic planning for affordable housing and neighborhood revitalizations.
Under his leadership, Houston chronic homelessness dropped by more than 70 percent, according to the firm’s announcement.
