Latham's Houston Office Honored by Lone Star Legal Aid

© 2016 The Texas Lawbook.By Brooks Igo (Dec. 5) – Latham & Watkins announced recently that the firm has received two awards recognizing its pro bono work in Texas. Latham, which has more than 75 lawyers in its Houston office, was honored with the “Law Firm Award” for the second year in a row from Lone Star Legal Aid. Together, Latham and Lone Star have helped 35 clients prepare various estate planning documents, according to a press release from the firm. Lone Star Legal Aid also selected Houston associates David Stott and Om Pandya for its “Most Cases Handled Award.” “The Houston office is primarily a transactional practice, so it is great to find pro bono opportunities where attorneys can apply the zeal for other matters” Craig Kornreich, a partner who leads the Houston office’s pro bono efforts, said. “The awards show the quality and quantity of our pro bono work.” Latham was also chosen by Human Rights First as the recipient of the 2016 Marvin Frankel Award for the firm’s commitment to pro bono asylum matters on a national level.
