Holland & Knight announced on Thursday that Jeffrey Harvey, the former executive vice president and general counsel of PrimeSource Building Products, has joined the firm’s Dallas office as a partner.
Harvey has two decades of experience working in-house. After he started his career at the Dallas law firm Stutzman Bromberg Esserman & Plifka, Harvey went on to take general counsel roles at Aerus (formerly ElectroluxUSA) and inthinc Technology Solutions.
PrimeSource, the nation’s largest distributor of fasteners, hired Harvey in 2016 as the first general counsel in the Irving-based company’s 80-year history. The global building products supplier recently signed Navin Rao as its new general counsel.
At Holland & Knight, Harvey will advise public and private businesses, investment firms, family offices and individuals on mergers and acquisitions, securities, intellectual property, real estate, compliance and corporate governance.
Harvey is Holland & Knight’s fourth partner hire in Texas in the past two weeks. The firm announced the additions of Dallas litigation partner Eli Burriss from McDermott Will & Emery and Houston litigation partners Samuel Louis and Justo Mendez from Clark Hill in February.
The trio focus their litigation practices on healthcare matters and bring significant government experience. Louis was an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of Texas for two decades and Mendez is a former agent for the Office of the Inspector General in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and was also a prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s office in Houston.
“It’s been our goal to expand into the Texas healthcare market in a meaningful way for a while, since many of our clients are making investments there,” Jeffrey Mittleman, co-leader of Holland & Knight’s healthcare and life sciences industry group, said in a statement.
“It makes sense to start with litigation, one of the major strengths of our firm. The combined experience and excellent reputations of Eli, Sam and Justo give us a great foundation to build on.”
