After recently serving as the lead lawyer managing the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in sub-Saharan African history, Natalie Regoli is going from in-house to Baker & McKenzie as a partner in the firm’s Houston office. She joins the firm from Angola Marketing Ltd., which is part of the Angola LNG Project group of companies, where she spent the past five years managing the $15 billion facility.

Regoli says the opportunity to join Baker & McKenzie’s exceptional energy team was one she couldn’t pass up.

“I look forward to utilizing my experience inside of a world-class LNG project for the benefit of the firm’s clients, both from a substantive perspective but also from the perspective of truly understanding the business side of a LNG project,” she said.

The University of Texas School of Law graduate said it was a privilege to be a part of the Angola LNG Project because of the infrastructure and jobs it helped create in Angola. She expects to see more import-to-export U.S. LNG terminal conversions and construction of new LNG facilities globally.

“This is a historic time in the oil & gas industry, with the tremendous growth in the domestic shale gas industry, four domestic LNG terminals approved to export to non-FTA countries , another 19 applications under review, the planning of the U.S.’s first gas-to-liquids (GTL) facility, and LNG export and regas terminals planned and under construction all over the world,” she said.

Rick Hammett, the managing partner of Baker & McKenzie’s Houston office, echoed Regoli’s observations.

“We are continuing to see significant interest from our clients in the LNG area,” he said in a statement. “I know our energy clients will appreciate the perspective Natalie brings to these projects and we are delighted that she is joining our growing Houston office.”
