Baker Botts announced Thursday its third lateral partner hire of the year.
Dallas financial restructuring expert Travis McRoberts has joined the firm from Squire Patton Boggs. The move comes one day after Baker Botts announced the addition of two patent litigators from Orrick, including Houston partner Jeffrey Johnson.
McRoberts focuses his practice on large corporate bankruptcies and the financial restructuring of distressed entities in the oil and gas, coal, shipping, retail and healthcare industries. He also has experience with municipal restructurings.
“Travis has deep market knowledge, extensive experience, and strong client relationships,” said Samantha Crispin, chair of Baker Botts’ Corporate Department, said in a statement. “His arrival will not only further strengthen our financial restructuring team but will add to our long list of both debtor and committee representations.”
In 2020, McRoberts advised Patriot Well Solutions in its Ch. 11. More recently, McRoberts was on the legal team representing Great Value Storage, founded by Austin developer Nate Paul, in its restructuring in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.
McRoberts received his law degree from the University of Maryland and began his career at Richards, Layton & Finger in Delaware. He moved to Dallas in 2012 to join Akin Gump as counsel, where he practiced for four years. He joined Squire Patton Boggs in 2016 and made partner there in 2021.
