Five Texas Lawyers Recognized as “Most Influential Black Lawyers”

(March 17) – Five Texas lawyers were selected as Atlanta-based Savoy Magazine’s 2015 “Most Influential Black Lawyers” in America, a list of 100 lawyers nationwide recognized in the publication’s spring issue.

Shonn Brown
Shonn Brown

Shonn Brown, Shauna Jackson Clark, Earsa Jackson, Ricky Raven and James Waters were recognized for their career achievements, advancement of the legal profession and longtime commitment to the Dallas civic community, according to the magazine’s publisher.

Brown is a partner at Dallas-based litigation boutique Gruber Hurst Johansen Hail Shank. She is a trustee of the Dallas Museum of Art and Lamplighter School, and she serves on the board of directors of the Dallas Women’s Foundation, the Dallas Black Dance Theater and Big Thought.

 Shauna Jackson Clark
Shauna Jackson Clark

Clark currently leads the U.S. employment and labor practice at Norton Rose Fulbright, where she has previously served as partner-in-charge of the Houston office. She serves on the Baylor College of Medicine Board of Trustees, United Way Board of Directors and Center for Houston’s Future Board of Directors.

Earsa Jackson
Earsa Jackson

Jackson is a partner in the Dallas office of Strasburger & Price, where she leads the firm’s franchise and distribution practice group. She serves on the board of directors of Promise House, the Dallas Christian Women’s Job Corporation and Dallas Children’s Theatre.

Ricky Raven
Ricky Raven

Raven, who has led more than 100 jury trials to verdict, focuses his practice at T&K on civil litigation, toxic tort, products liability, personal injury, fracking litigation and white collar criminal defense. He was elected by the mayor of Houston to serve on the Police Officers’ Civil Service Commission, and he currently serves on the board of directors of the Houston Community College Foundation and Yellowstone Foundation.

James Waters
James Waters

Waters is a partner at Haynes and Boone in Dallas and he concentrates his practice in representing financial institutions, Fortune 500 companies and private equity funds in connection with the structuring, negotiation and documentation of domestic and international financing transactions and corporate restructurings. He is on the board of trustees of the Dallas Theater Center, and he serves on the board of directors of the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce and the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth.
