Austin-based firm Graves, Dougherty, Hearon & Moody has named Susan P. Burton the new vice president of the firm effective Jan. 1, 2013.
Burton, a graduate of Baylor Law School, is the head of the firm’s employment law practice group. She has 25 years of experience advising and representing businesses and executive-level employees on human resources and employment law issues including wrongful termination, Fair Labor Standards Act, wage and hour disputes, harassment and discrimination, retaliation, breach of employment contract, covenants not to compete, confidentiality agreements, misappropriation of trade secrets, EEOC and TCHR claims, and Texas Workforce Commission claims.
Prior to joining Graves Dougherty in 2009, Burton was the head of the employment law practice group at another Austin-based firm, Clark, Thomas & Winters.
Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas, an organization Burton has long been committed to, has an award named in her honor, the Susan P. Burton Award, which is given annually to a volunteer attorney who has been licensed five years or less for exemplary pro bono service.
