Joel Goldberg, an energy partner, has joined King & Spalding’s Houston office from Porter Hedges, where he led the firm’s Property and Finance Practice Group. He will focus his practice on the development, financing and acquisition of conventional and renewable energy and infrastructure projects, according to a news release.
Before joining King & Spalding, Goldberg advised clients on energy and infrastructure transactions for 21 years at Porter Hedges. Earlier in his career, he served as general counsel and commercial director of Energy Developments for five years, gaining in-house experience supporting renewable energy development and commercial matters.
“Joel’s established network in Houston and deep knowledge of the energy industry represents a significant addition to our energy and infrastructure platform,” said Keith Townsend, co-leader of King & Spalding’s Corporate practice group. “Joel’s commercial perspective, technical sophistication and deep experience with both conventional and renewable energy projects reinforce our ability to advise clients on their most complex and significant matters.”
King & Spalding recorded $271.1 million in Texas revenue last year, a 3.9 percent increase since 2024, and reported a headcount of 140 lawyers, a decrease of 2.1 percent, according to the Lawbook 50.
AREAS OF FOCUS
Goldberg focuses his practice on the development, financing and acquisition of energy and infrastructure projects across both conventional and renewable sectors. He advises clients on renewable and conventional power projects, liquefied natural gas, renewable natural gas, battery storage and carbon capture facilities, as well as power purchase agreements, offtake agreements, joint ventures and project finance.
