Houston patent litigator Garland T. Stephens has rejoined Weil, Gotshal & Manges as a partner.
Stephens, who represents plaintiffs and defendants in patent and trade secret cases in the technology sector, had been a partner at Weil from 2002 to 2008. He jumped to Fish & Richardson’s IP group for four years, where he was managing principal in the firm’s Houston office.
“I’m going home,” Stephens said Tuesday. “I have only good things to say about my friends at Fish, but Weil is a better fit for me right now.”
Stephens has been involved in many high profile IP disputes, including cases involving Apple, Microsoft, Intel and Yahoo!
“Garland is an excellent trial lawyer. His skills, experience, and client base really complement the Firm’s existing platform,” says Executive Partner Barry M. Wolf. “We are pleased to welcome him back into the partnership.”
Weil has 30 lawyers in its Houston office.
