Paul Hastings Opens Houston Office

April 23, 2012 Mark Curriden

After several months of rumors that it planned to burst into the Texas legal market, Paul Hastings officially announced Monday that it has opened an office in Houston.

Founded six decades ago in Los Angeles, Paul Hastings said it opened its new office with four partners, including three energy-focused transactional partners from three Texas-based firms.

Tax lawyer Greg Nelson, who has been a partner at Baker Botts, will chair the new office. He is joined by corporate finance lawyer Paris Theofanidis, who had been a partner at Vinson & Elkins in Houston and M&A partner Steven Tredennick, who had been at Bracewell & Giuliani in Houston.

Paul Hastings said that it Kevin Fisher, a finance and restructuring partner in its San Francisco, is relocating to Houston.

“Our office opening in Houston is an important step in further building our team of energy-focused legal experts across diverse practice areas,” said managing partner Greg Nitzkowski. “As our Houston office expands, the on-the-ground expertise will complement our existing global energy capabilities and allow us to better serve clients in this critical market,” he added.
