Pillsbury Hires Away Energy and Construction Litigator from Locke Lord

September 23, 2024 Krista Torralva

Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman has added a seasoned energy and construction litigator to its Houston office, the firm announced Monday.

Derrick Carson left Locke Lord, where he previously chaired its energy litigation practice and construction law practice groups, to become a partner at Pillsbury.

“As disputes arise, Derrick’s impressive skillset meaningfully advances our ability to support clients navigating construction and other energy-related litigation matters,” Firm Chair David Dekker said.

Carson has represented clients in complex energy and construction disputes for more than 25 years with a focus on cases involving midstream infrastructure projects and renewable energy sources.

His resume boasts global experience representing clients before international arbitral bodies in addition to his work in the U.S. where he’s served as lead counsel in numerous trials and appeals.

“From the standpoint of my clients, Pillsbury checks every box: a renowned construction practice, significant international disputes capabilities, an established reputation as a firm at the forefront of the global energy transition, and so much more” Carson said. “Add to all that the firm’s strong Texas trajectory and long-standing culture of collaboration and teamwork, and it couldn’t be a better fit.”

Carson is a graduate of Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and New Mexico State University.
