(April 8) – Polsinelli recently announced the addition of corporate and transactional attorney John Dickey to its Dallas office as a shareholder.

Dickey, who lateraled to the Kansas City-based firm from Dykema Cox Smith, said he was attracted to the firm’s national presence and platform.

“I was seeking a firm with a larger footprint in the middle market,” he said.

Earlier in his career, Dickey worked in-house at General Dynamics. He says that experience has shaped his approach to private practice and taught him the importance of understanding a business’ goals and objectives.

“It gives you a significant perspective of being a consumer of legal services and understanding what makes a difference,” he said.

The St. Mary’s University School of Law graduate focuses his practice on private equity, corporate finance and capital markets-related work.

At the end of 2014, he represented a client with an ownership stake in Le GAGA, a Hong Kong-based greenhouse vegetable producer, in a merger that resulted in the delisting of Le GAGA shares and the company’s American depository shares on the NASDAQ. In the second quarter of 2015, he helped complete a restructuring of the post-merger company.

Dickey says he has seen an uptick in mergers and acquisitions activity since the fourth quarter of 2015. In particular, he says he is seeing an increased appetite for private equity fund formation for real estate investment in the U.S.
