(May 11) – Porter Hedges announced Tuesday that M&A and corporate finance pro Robert Viguet has joined the firm as a partner.

The former Thompson & Knight partner said he believes Porter Hedges gives him the opportunity to take his practice to a “higher level.”

“If someone gave me a blank notepad and asked me to describe the components of a system that promotes growth and is fundamentally fair to the partners, it would look almost exactly like the system at Porter Hedges,” he said. “It is a partners’ law firm.”

Viguet dubbed the firm’s transactional, litigation and ’33 Act (securities offerings) practice as “high quality.” He also noted that he looks forward to practicing with lawyers he has enjoyed working with before, including tax attorney Craig Bergez, who he practiced with at Chamberlain Hrdlicka.

The University of Texas School of Law graduate recently represented Continuum Energy, LLC, an integrated energy products and services company, in connection with a corporate reorganization and $275 million senior secured credit facility and associated acquisition facility.

He says the hot topics in his practice are leveraged recapitalizations facilitated by private equity investment; financial derivative strategies to manage exposure to commodity prices in the energy industry; and corporate governance issues in limited liability companies.
