Real Estate Veteran Nick Buehner Returns to V&E as a Partner

May 5, 2025 Jeff Schnick

Nick Buehner has returned to Vinson & Elkins as a partner in its Dallas real estate practice after serving in two notable in-house roles for the past nine years, the firm announced Monday in a news release.

A former associate in V&E’s Dallas real estate group, Buehner brings meaningful industry experience from senior leadership roles advising on complex real estate investments and development projects at Goldman Sachs and, more recently, Trammell Crow Company.

“Nick is well-known and well-liked across the firm for his skill, deep knowledge of the real estate industry, and dynamic, outgoing personality,” said Vinson & Elkins real estate partner Russell Oshman, the managing partner of the firm’s Dallas office, in the release. “Our clients will value his commercial judgment and the breadth of experience that he brings to matters.”

Prior to rejoining V&E, Buehner served as assistant general counsel for Dallas-based Trammell Crow Company, a position he held since June 2021. Before that, he was vice president and senior counsel for Goldman Sachs’ real estate investments division. He transitioned from V&E to Goldman Sachs in April 2016 after three years as an associate at the firm, following a stint at Orrick’s San Francisco office.

“When I decided to return to private practice, Vinson & Elkins was a perfect fit,” Buehner said in the release. “What sets Vinson & Elkins’ Real Estate practice apart is its deep bench of talent and the fact that every attorney in the group is consistently excellent. I look forward to reconnecting with many colleagues and friends and to helping Vinson & Elkins sustain its long-standing reputation as a leader in the real estate industry.”

AREAS OF FOCUS
Buehner’s expertise covers private equity, large-scale development, and asset management, positioning him to provide strategic counsel to clients across the commercial real estate sector. He concentrates on real estate investment, development, and asset management, with particular strength in joint ventures, debt financings, ground leases, acquisitions, dispositions and the development of multifamily, office, industrial, retail and mixed-use properties, according to the release.
