This is the second year for our law firm finance survey. The questionnaire is nearly identical to the survey you received from us in 2015, though we have trimmed it a bit. The first half of the survey seeks specific financial data, which we plan to publish. Please note that we do not seek profits per partner. We feel that category is too vulnerable for manipulation and not an accurate portrayal of a law firm’s financial health or success. We aim to be substantive and intellectually accurate in our reports. Last year, our survey resulted in multiple articles that appeared in The Dallas Morning News and the Houston Chronicle. The same will be true this year.
The second half of the survey includes questions to which the answers will not be published individually unless you indicate that we are free to do so. Instead, those answers will be published as a cumulative.
The first two sections of the survey are due March 7.
Finally, we offer a third bonus section for law firms that complete the survey. This third section asks law firms to answer specific questions that we will use to determine 10 awards: (1) Law Firm of the Year; (2) Lawyer of the Year; (3) Litigation Victory of the Year; (4) Deal of the Year; (5) Pro Bono Project of the Year; (6) Managing Partner/Firm Chairperson of the Year; (7) Associate of the Year; and (8) General Counsel of the Year.
The third section’s submissions are due March 14.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating and thank you for supporting The Texas Lawbook.
