T&K Adds Former Lewis Energy Latin America Operations Legal Director

September 10, 2018 Brooks Igo

(Sept. 10) – Thompson & Knight announced recently that Houston oil and gas attorney Alfredo Raúl Ramos has joined the firm as a partner.

Ramos lateraled over from Greenberg Traurig. He is a former in-house lawyer at San Antonio-based Lewis Energy, where he served as Latin America Operations Legal Director.

“I felt Thompson & Knight’s commitment to and depth in the energy space differentiated itself from other law firms, and some of my oil & gas and private equity clients encouraged T&K’s platform for my law practice,” Ramos says.

At Lewis Energy, Ramos managed and administered the company’s oil and gas acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and operative agreements in Texas, Mexico and throughout Latin America. He also managed the company’s litigation matters in Texas.

The current president of the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston, Ramos focuses on energy transactions, infrastructure and project development matters in the U.S., Mexico and throughout Latin America. He advises clients in the upstream, midstream, oilfield services, and renewable energy sectors regarding acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, investments and commercial agreements.

Ramos says private equity sponsors are exploring significant opportunities in midstream and infrastructure projects in Mexico and throughout Latin America.

“Those countries are seeking to increase production as their oil and gas output declines, and U.S. based producers and midstream companies are ideally positioned to take advantage of the opportunity to export and transport hydrocarbons into Mexico and Latin America,” he adds.
