Vinson & Elkins named Jason Marty as its chief operating officer in Houston, replacing Adam Kassoff, who is retiring. Marty will oversee business operations, including business development, communications, facilities, financial services, marketing technology, talent, and technology and data services, the firm said in a news release.
Before joining Vinson & Elkins, Marty co-founded a company focused on using artificial intelligence to enhance client relationship management and business development for law firms. Previously, he served as chief operating officer at Baker McKenzie in Chicago. He spent more than 19 years at various posts with that firm and was global chief operating officer at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner for almost four years. At both firms, he worked closely with leadership on strategic planning, financial management and marketing functions and helped implement large-scale transformation initiatives within the legal industry.
“Jason is an accomplished leader with a deep understanding of what it takes to operate and grow a sophisticated organization,” said Vinson & Elkins Chair Keith Fullenweider. “He brings a rare combination of operational excellence, strategic insight, technological fluency, and an understanding that our business is built on relationships, trust and client service. We are confident Jason is the right leader to help us continue to build momentum and invest in the future.”
Vinson & Elkins recorded $669.7 million in Texas revenue last year, which is a 5.5 percent increase from 2024, and a reported headcount of 371 lawyers, which is a decrease of 3.9 percent according to the Lawbook 50.
