Dorsey & Whitney is the latest firm since the November midterm elections to land a former state appellate justice.
Douglas Lang, who lost his bid for reelection to Democrat Robert Burns after serving for more than 16 years on Texas’ Fifth District Court of Appeals, has returned to private practice as of counsel at Dorsey, which launched a Dallas office in 2017.
During his tenure on the court, Lang authored more than 2,100 opinions and participated in more than 6,100 case decisions, according to Dorsey’s announcement. He also served for six years as a member of the Texas Multi-District Litigation Panel and as chair of the Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct.
Prior to his judicial service, Lang was a litigation partner at Gardere Wynne Sewell. He is a past president of the Dallas Bar Association and former chair of the Texas Center for Legal Ethics.
