The Dallas Bar Association announced this week that it has received a $15,000 grant from the Texas Bar Foundation to launch its “Entrepreneurs in Community Lawyering” Program this fall.
The program – which seeks to create a pipeline of socially conscious lawyers that are well equipped to launch a financially sustainable solo or small firm practice that caters to a lower income clientele – is one of DBA President Laura Benitez Geisler’s key initiatives.
According to the DBA’s press release, participants must be recent law school graduates licensed less than 5 years with a strong interest in starting a solo or small firm practice serving a modest-means clientele. The program is expected to have eight to 10 lawyers per session.
