NRF Survey: Litigation To Rise in 2020

Litigation rose slightly in most dispute categories in 2019, but respondents in the annual Norton Rose Fulbright litigation survey say they are worried that economic turbulence in 2020 will provoke a rise in lawsuits over the coming year. State Bar Discipline
In its December description of disciplinary actions, the State Bar of Texas reports that it has disbarred one lawyer, suspended 13 others and issued public admonitions against seven lawyers and two judges.

A Rough Ruff Hearing
A Dallas County probate judge cut a short hearing shorter Tuesday, asking for written arguments in the dispute over a new trustee for the Ruff Management Trust. State Bar Discipline: Two Judges, 20 Lawyers
The State Bar of Texas has released its monthly tally of disciplinary actions. This month's list of actions includes one resignation, 18 suspensions, three public reprimands and one appellate opinion confirming disciplinary action against a state judge accused of groping three women and behaving injudiciously in open court. Stockholder Suit Against Blue Bell Revived
A stockholder lawsuit against the directors of Blue Bell Creameries – filed in the wake of a 2015 outbreak of listeria in the company’s ice cream products – was revived this week by the Delaware Supreme Court. The case, filed in 2017 and dismissed in 2018, was remanded back to a Delaware Chancery Court for trial.
