Al Ellis to Receive MLK Justice Award from Dallas Bar Association

Al Ellis, of counsel at Sommerman & Quesada, L.L.P., will be honored by the Dallas Bar Association at the 21st Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon as the recipient of the 2013 Martin Luther King Jr. Justice Award at a luncheon on Monday, Jan. 21, at The Belo Mansion.

The award is presented to local leaders whose lives and practice exemplify the principles embodied by Dr. King’s leadership. Former recipients include the late Hon. Barefoot Sanders, Senator Royce West, Mayor Ron Kirk, Kim Askew, Commissioner John Wiley Price, Rhonda Hunter, E. Leon Carter, Dr. Walter Sutton, Jr. and Justice Carolyn Wright.

Ellis, a graduate of Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law, has tried more than 170 jury trials in his 40-year career. He has various leadership roles including presidencies of the Dallas Bar Association, Dallas Trial Lawyers Association, Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, American Board of Trial Advocates (Dallas chapter), Dallas Council on Alcoholism, and Dallas All Sports Association.
