An international law firm Baker Botts has decided to stay in its large office within Trammell Crow Center in downtown Dallas, with plans to rebuild its entire space within the skyscraper.

Gibson Dunn IDs Two of Eight Lawyers for Houston Office
Latham & Watkins oil and gas partner Michael Darden and former Apache Business Development Manager Justin T. Stolte officially launched Gibson Dunn’s Houston office this week. Six more partners are expected to be announced later this month.

NY Firm Chadbourne Joins Norton Rose Fulbright Operations
Norton Rose Fulbright, which has its U.S. operations based mostly in Houston, announced Tuesday that it is “combining” forces with Chadbourne & Parke, a 400-lawyer firm based in New York. Chadbourne has no lawyers or offices in Texas. By adding Chadbourne under its umbrella, Norton Rose Fulbright grows to more than 4,000 lawyers in 58 offices spanning 32 countries, including more than 1,000 attorneys in the U.S.

Gibson Dunn Expands into Houston
Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, a 1,200 lawyer global firm, is expected to announced this week that it is expanding its presence in Texas by opening a branch operation in Houston. The law firm, which has has 55-lawyers in Dallas, launch into Houston by luring eight partners who specializes in energy transactions and tax law from Baker Botts and Latham & Watkins, plus one corporate general counsel who is rejoining the law firm world. Drinker Biddle Opens in Dallas
Twenty-three Dallas lawyers – nearly all of them in litigation – from California-based Sedgwick are joining Drinker Biddle & Reath, which is opening its first outpost in Texas next week. W. Neil Rambin, who is the managing partner of Sedgwick’s Dallas office, is leading a team of nine partners and 14 associates and counsel to Drinker Biddle.
