Mary Goodrich Nix, a major league litigation partner with all-star credentials, is leaving Holland & Knight for Lynn Pinker Hurst & Schwegmann. Her last day at H&K was Monday.
The move comes more than a month after the Miami-headquartered firm publicly acknowledged merger talks with Dallas-based Thompson & Knight. But that’s not the reason for the move, according to Nix. The Texas Lawbook has the story.
The largest business immigration law firm in Texas is expanding into Dallas-Fort Worth. Houston-based Foster LLP announced Thursday that it has acquired Elise Healy + Associates, which also specializes in representing large and mid-sized companies in a host of immigration-related employment matters.
The news comes one week after Baker Botts’ corporate department added Houston corporate partner Doug Getten from Paul Hastings.
The addition of Doug Getten builds on a Baker Botts strength – underwriter-side capital markets work – and reinforces a practice group that has seen a handful of departures this year.
The 104-year-old legacy Texas firm has selected a successor to Mark Kelly – along with three other new leaders.
Keith Fullenweider, the son of a lawyer and a teacher and a veteran of V&E’s M&A practice will begin his new role Jan. 1. He becomes the third Houston partner in a row tapped to lead the legendary firm.
